Isn't it sad how materialistic and superficial "love" has become? I'm talking about this in relation to Valentine's Day, of course. I think it's pretty depressing that we live in a world where candy hearts equal love. Once Valentine's Day is over, it's forgotten about until next year. That shows how sincere the "love" is, doesn't it?

Valentine's Day is supposed to be a celebration of love, but shouldn't something as wonderful as love be celebrated more than just one day per year? We shouldn't need an official day to tell us -- or force us in some cases -- to appreciate those around us (family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, pets (yeah pets need love! :P), etc etc etc). We should already be doing so! All it takes is a "thank you" now and then, or a hug, or if you're in a relationship - "I love you" (but only if you mean it). There are many different ways of showing someone you care for them, and in the end, it's your decision on how to go about it. But you should do it often!

I think our society needs to learn a lesson on sincerity and what love really is. Far too many people are getting lost in the superficiality.

Maybe I'm just over thinking it. Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day in the company of... whoever you want to be around. :D ♥

It's all in good fun for me, but you do have a point.

I have no experience in these matters, and for me Valentine's is just giving candy to your friends, hehe.

But yeah, it seems to be a little fake when you think about it.

It can be nice sometimes, for sure! But it definitely seems forced. If giving candy/gifts wasn't as commercialized as it currently is, I don't think most people would naturally think to do it.

(Sorry, I had to edit my past comment so I just re-posted it XD)

I agree with you!
It's a silly "holiday" and focuses way to much on the commercial aspect. I've never had a successful Valentine's Day. It sickens me to see girls fawned over in excess for just one random day out of the year.
You're right, people should consider what it's actually about, showing love to everyone. We should also do it more throughout the year.

I hope that wasn't my bitterness talking ;)

Anyway, happy Valentine's Day to you Victoria. <3

I like Valentine's Day and all (because I love chocolate XD), but I completely agree with you. Actually, I think this applies to all holidays, like Mother's Day for example. If you really love and appreciate someone a lot, you shouldn't just show it just one day out of the year. I admit, I'm following the trend of Valentine's Day, I bought a gift and some candy, but I buy gifts for my boyfriend like all the time, so it's just another excuse for me to buy him something (because he doesn't like it when I spoil him XD).

I had more to say about this, but I've completely blanked out. :<

Even if Valentine's Day isn't that great of a holiday, I hope you have a good day tomorrow~ Happy February 14th? XD

Valentine's Day might be the only day of the year that many men spare some brain activity for romantic thoughts...

As for me, I'll just be nice to the only female in my life (see icon) because, as you said, pets need love.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello, hello. This is the maintainer of [info]lecollage, obviously, and I'm just going around and commenting to those of you who have filled out the poll in the community and have stated that you don't want any new makers to be given posting access. Well, I now realize that I should have left a "Please give a reason" section in the poll, but I didn't, so this will have to work.

I can pretty much guess why people select "yes"--they want to see more icons and different styles--but I'm not too sure of the various reasons people have selected "no." Can you tell me your reason? It is perfectly alright to select no, and I'm very glad for the input and the participation in the community, but I just want to make sure I know where everyone is coming from. So please let me know. (:

Thanks. And also, thanks for filling out the poll and for your support of and participation in [info]lecollage.

P.S. I completely agree with your post. (: And I would take that a step further and say that the people in this world are too materialistic IN GENERAL. :D

Well, personally, I'd prefer to see just your style. :D You seem original whereas most other icon makers seem to rehash the same fonts/brushes/effects/colours/etc etc.

Aww. Well, I only post artwork by other artists (I don't use any effects at all), and the other posters wouldn't either. So no worries there. Thanks for your response! And I'm really glad you like the style of icons posted. :D

I do agree with you that everyone is a little too materialistic, but I do think it's fun that there is a day dedicated to this. I mean, it's sort of silly to go out and spend loads on valentine's day (they're just trying to rake as much out of it as they can!) but it's a cute concept and it's nice to show someone you appreciate them (even if you can do this any other time as well).

Candy hearts = <3 just because they're yummy

A happy V-day to you too! ♥:D

Um, I'm not sure if you still remember me. :| But when you announced that you were leaving your LJ. I thought you were leaving for good (I even de-friended you ;___;). It wasn't until recently, that I found out that you were back. Um, so I'll be adding you back, if that's okay with you? ;)

I agree so much with your assessment of Valentine's Day! Nowadays, it seems like every holiday is turning into a "Hallmark holiday". With all the commercialism around the holidays, we forget what the whole meaning behind them really is. It's not about what you buy, or what's bought for us... it's someone's true feelings.

I completely agree with you. I walked around the school hallways looking at people holding roses, chocolates, etc. I was like don't we love everyday, so why is there this one day when everything affiliated with love is acceptable? Ohwell.

This comment is probably really late anyway loool

Oh yeah. J!-ENT is very likely going to interview TOHOSHINKI!! So they are doing a huge article for them! It's like 50+ pages. It's an internet magazine for JPOP. Since you are a fantastic song reviewer, I thought this portion of the magazine was meant to be for you!! Section 5 is reviewing all their discography. They need a lot of them; one or two paragraphs will do. If you are interested, you can visit their website <http://www.nt2099.com/j-ent/news/off-the-hook/off-the-hook-looking-to-profile-collections-or-drawings-of-tohoshinki-from-fans-worldwide/> and look for section 5 for more info. I hope you'll do some because everyone loves your reviews (especially me).
